The Cordwainer
Orthopaedic Footwear Specialist
The word 'Cordwainer' derives from the Spanish “Cordovaner”, a leather worker from Cordoba in Andalucia. During the heyday of the “Wain trades”, the word became incorporated into the English language in it’s present context.
The footwear I make is designed to give my clients the sense of wellbeing that comes as a result of having shoes and boots that fit properly and still look good.
I specialise in making footwear for people with all sorts of foot and mobility problems, but always try to keep in mind that the customer wants the shoes to look as normal as possible.
I am confident that my forty years of experience and expertise will help people with the most severe disabilities receive the footwear they need. Please refer to the 'information' page for further details.
I offer a limited Nationwide Visiting Service for those unable to travel to the shop for measuring and fitting.
My shop at Leigh is easy to find and you will find parking close to the shop. Please telephone first to make an appointment.
